Join us for the ultimate wartime variety show, A Salute to Dad’s Army at the Palace Hotel in the lovely spa town of Buxton! The show features tributes to the stars of the 40s, including the likes of Vera Lynn, George Formby, Flanagan and Allen, Gracie Fields, Frank Sinatra, Windsor Davies and Don Estelle, with Captain Mainwaring and the home guard from Walmington-on-Sea linking all the acts with brand-new comedy sketches. All held together by air raid warden, Warden Braithwaite, and with flags and bunting adding to the 1940s atmosphere, this evening of nostalgic entertainment promises to have you laughing and singing along!
Coach Itinerary
Sunday: From a morning pickup in your local area we travel by coach to the spa town of Buxton, located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. We check into the Palace Hotel, where later, we enjoy the highlight of our weekend, A Salute to Dad’s Army variety show.
Monday: After breakfast we check out of the hotel and head to Manchester, where there is the option to be dropped off at either Salford Quays or central Manchester (Deansgate) for free time at leisure. Set on the city’s historic waterfront, Salford Quays is home to a wide range of bars and restaurants as well as the Lowry Outlet Mall – perfect for a spot of retail therapy! We rejoin the coach in the mid afternoon for the journey home.
