Day 1
We cross the channel to France then on to the Novotel Chartres for our overnight stay.

Day 2
Heading south, we call at the 'ghost' town of Oradour-sur-Glane, which has been left untouched as a forever silent monument, since 1944 when the Nazis executed over 600 inhabitants and set fire to the town. Stroll the empty streets, see the old burnt out cars, visit the museum and watch the 12-minute film - a very thought-provoking experience. We continue in the afternoon to Le Bugue for 6-nights.

Day 3
We drive to the beautiful old Roman city of Périgueux, capital of the region. Enjoy a guided walking tour of this beautiful town with its wonderful architecture and wealth of historic sites. The afternoon is free for individual pursuits.

Day 4
We enjoy an extended half-day excursion to Chateau de Monbazillac. Situated at the heart of the prestigious Monbazillac Vineyards, we enjoy a guided tour and wine tasting.

Day 5
A day to relax and unwind in Le Bugue.

Day 6
A full days guided excursion, first to Sarlat-la-Canéda, where we explore the maze of narrow lanes and winding medieval cobble stone streets. We then proceed to Rocamadour, a town built on narrow ledges above an almost sheer cliff.

Day 7
We meet our local guide in Beynac before enjoying a cruise on a sailing barge to discover ten centuries of the Dordogne Valley and its fabulous history. We continue to La Roque Gageac, where you can discover the exotic gardens of this spectacular cliffside village before taking a trip on the "little train" up to the 13th century village of Domme to enjoy lovely panoramic views of the river as it winds its way through the beautiful valley.

Day 8
We depart Le Bugue and travel to the Novotel Chartres to our overnight hotel.

Day 9
We return to Calais where we board our ferry to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
