Sunday
We head to Holyhead for our afternoon sailing to Dublin continuing to our overnight stay at the Trim Castle Hotel in Trim (4-star).

Monday
Travelling west we pause at Strokestown Park, a delightfully fully furnished 18th century Georgian Mansion with a six acre walled garden. Home to Ireland's Famine Museum, here we can learn about the tragic events of Ireland's great famine in the 1840's. Later, we continue to Westport, our base for 4-nights.

Tuesday
Enjoy a drive through Connemara and James Joyce Country, a scenic region of rugged beauty and stonewashed cottages. Tour the mountainous Connemara National Park visiting Kylemore Abbey and then on to the village of Cong - the setting for the John Wayne Film 'The Quiet Man'.

Wednesday
A day at leisure in resort.

Thursday
A scenic morning drive around Clew Bay and out across the Corraun Peninsula to Achill Island, joined to the mainland by a bridge. Follow the Atlantic Drive to capture wonderful views of steeply sloping mountains plunging into the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. We return past Lough Conn where we visit Hennigan's Heritage Centre, learning about rural life in Co Mayo and enjoy some music, dancing and refreshments.

Friday
Bidding farewell to Mayo we journey to Mullingar, where we enjoy a guided tour of Belvedere House & Gardens. Here we hear the fascinating story of passion, romance, revenge and jealousy of Robert Rochfort, Earl of Belvedere. We continue to Bray for our final overnight at the Royal Hotel (3-star).
