Viking York & Yorkshire Gold
5 Days Half Board by Coach
Encircled by city walls and gateways dating back to Norman times, and dominated by a majestic Minster, York is one of the country’s leading tourist destinations. The city has played an important part in the story of the Viking invasions - at the time known as Jorvik - and the Roman occupation when it was a fortress called Eboracum. Our hotel is situated in the centre of York so you can explore at your leisure. And we also have some wonderful excursions planned, with visits to wonderful Harlow Carr Gardens and the scenic landscapes of Heartbeat Country.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
• Free time in York • Harrogate • RHS Harlow Carr Gardens • North Yorkshire Moors • Pickering • Goathland - Aidensfield in the TV series Heartbeat • Whitby
Full day: This morning to the fashionable spa town of Harrogate with green parkland, beautiful gardens and boutiques but perhaps more famous for its tea rooms. This afternoon we visit the spectacular RHS gardens at Harlow Carr, one of Yorkshire’s most relaxing and tranquil gardens.
Full day: A full day touring the North Yorkshire Moors and coast today as we visit the ancient market town of Pickering before continuing into the moors and deep valleys of ‘Heartbeat’ country and Goathland - Aidensfield in the long running TV series. From here we head to the coast and the old seafaring town of Whitby with its connections to Captain Cook and Dracula.
Free day: Enjoy a day at leisure to explore York at your own pace, perhaps visit awardwinning museums such as the Jorvik Centre or the National Railway Museum. The majestic Minster is the main attraction, at the end of the famous Shambles - with its narrow lanes crammed with shops - whilst a stroll around the Roman Walls will give you a unique view of the city.
