Your Itinerary:

FULL DAY: Steam train to Dartmouth & River Dart cruise
This morning, we head for nearby Paignton, where we board our train on the former Great Western branch line, which takes us along the coast past Goodrington Sands and alongside the River Dart Estuary to Kingswear. Here we take the passenger ferry across the river to the seafaring port of Dartmouth, with its imposing Royal Naval College, to board our river cruise. Sit back and enjoy the wonderful scenery – wooded slopes, secret creeks and enviable houses dotted along the banks of the River Dart.

FULL DAY: Plymouth & Dartmoor National Park
Through the wilds of Dartmoor, calling at Princetown, the highest town on the moor, before reaching Plymouth Hoe, an elegant promenade and gardens offering spectacular views across Plymouth Sound. Here, there is time to take in the views and stroll the bustling harbourside.

EXTENDED HALF DAY: Newton Abbot & Buckfast Abbey
This morning to Newton Abbot, a delightful Devon town, where it is market day. Wander through the old Butter Market or just enjoy the outdoor market in the town square. This afternoon we include a visit to the resplendent Buckfast Abbey, where the community of Benedictine monks continue to live self-sufficiently, welcoming visitors and selling homemade products.
