Today we head for the picturesque fortress town of Alnwick with a magnificent castle dominating the skyline. Then on to Cragside House, an impressive Victorian mansion built for the first Lord Armstrong and the first house in the world to have electricity.
FULL DAY: Beamish: Living Museum of the North
Today’s full day visit to Beamish: the Living Museum of the North is a truly unforgettable experience. Ride on the trams, visit the shops, and walk into houses - all faithfully re-creating life at the turn of the century.
FULL DAY: Woodhorn Museum & Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Today we make our way to the fascinating Woodhorn Museum, a former working colliery that today highlights the famous mining history of the North East. Afterwards we make our way into Newcastle-upon-Tyne where a local guide brings this city’s past to life.
