Kent is known as the Garden of England, where the temperate climate and chalky soil are ideal for fruit and vine growing, and apple orchards thrive. This is the home of oasthouses, windmills, picturesque villages with medieval churches and historic inns. From our base in the heart of Kent, we meander through delightful countryside, with included visits to the National Fruit Collection, to the world’s largest collection of Victorian oasthouses and of course, take time to sample some of England’s finest wines too!
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
FULL DAY: We start the day in the cinque port town of Hythe, before boarding the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway from the station on the banks of the Royal Military Canal. Known as “Kent’s mainline in minature” The world-famous, one-third full size, steam and diesel powered locomotives power their way from the cinque port town ofHythe,terminating in Dungeness. We end the days excursion with a visit to Deal, one of the prettiest seaside towns in Kent, this hidden gem has an unspoiled seafront and fantastic promenade.
FULL DAY: We visit Canterbury, the home of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Canterbury Cathedral - with its stunning architecture, the church of St Martin - the oldest church in the English-speaking world, and the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey - once a burial place for Anglo-Saxon kings of Kent. We also head to Whitstable, the place to be for oysters and quirky shops! A charming seaside town with a lovely seafront and pleasant harbour.
HALF DAY: We head to Tenterden, known as the ‘Jewel of the Weald’ to explore the fascinating history, wealth of architecture and excellent shopping on offer. We then pay visit to Carr Taylor Vineyard.
