The Glen Usk is perfectly placed in the very centre of the pretty spa town of Llandrindod Wells.
Llandrindod Wells is a town in Powys with a population of around 5,000. In the 18th century the healing properties of the waters from the Chalybeate spring were discovered. As a resultLlandrindod Wells developed into a spa town during the 19th century with the opening of the Central Wales Line Railway contributing to its development. Waters were taken at the Pump House Hotel and pump rooms at Rock Park and orchestras would entertain guests as they queued for the waters.
The spa declined around 1927. The town has many ornate buildings some dating from the Victorian/Edwardian era such as the Glen Usk Hotel & Albert Hall Theatre. Today Llandrindod Wells promotes itself as a healthy and wellbeing town to live with no pollution or congestion issues.
Every year at the end of August the town hosts a Victorian festival and in June each year it hosts the annual Welsh two day enduro.
