FULL DAY: Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Crossing the Pennines we head to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, passing through the market town of Skipton to reach the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway. Here we take a return ride on its nostalgic stock from a bygone era, rolling through the lush green scenery of Yorkshire. This afternoon we head to Keighley to board the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway to Oxenhope. Originally opened in 1867 and funded by mill owners, it is famed for its prominent role in the 1970’s film The Railway Children.
FULL DAY: Bowness-on-Windermere, Kirkstone Pass and Lake Windermere cruise
Today we head for the Lake District National Park. Driving along the pretty banks of Lake Ullswater we come to the Kirkstone Pass with its magnificent views of Lakeland. Continuing on we arrive in Bowness-on-Windermere, where we enjoy a cruise on the crystal clear waters of Lake Windermere.
FULL DAY: Lancaster & Lune Valley cruise
This morning we head for Lancaster with time to explore this small but interesting city. This afternoon we drive into the surrounding countryside and the delightful Lune Valley for a cruise offering a relaxing angle of the Lancashire scenery.
