Road & Rail Journeys Through The Garden Of England - 2021
5 Days Half Board by Coach
Kent is known as the ‘Garden of England’, where the temperate climate and chalky soil are ideal for fruit and
vine growing, and apple orchards thrive. This is home to oasthouses, windmills, picturesque villages with medieval
churches and historic inns. From our base in the heart of Kent we explore by road and rail, discovering the charming
coastline, quaint countryside and delightful communities that make this a special corner of England.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
FULL DAY: Today we head for the north Kent coastline to visit the sleepy resort of Whitstable, benefiting from a sheltered
position at the head of the Swale. In the afternoon we make our way to Canterbury- the cradle of Christianity - where the medieval texture of the city remains amongst the streets and precincts of the famous cathedral.
HALF DAY: Through the ‘Garden of England’ countryside today to join the Kent & East Sussex Railway, one of the country’s finest examples of a rural light railway, straddling the county borders between the pretty village of Tenterden - known as the ‘Jewel of the Weald’ - and the impressive Bodiam Castle.
FULL DAY: To the south coast today to join the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, a popular narrow gauge railway with ¾ size steam and locomotive engines which wind their way along the expanses of Romney Marsh. Afterwards we enjoy some free time in Hythe before visiting the Battle of Britain Memorial at Capel-le-Ferne.
