HIGHLIGHTS: Glencoe, Fort William, Loch Linnhe, Iona, Isle of Mull

Oban has become one of the major holiday centres in the West Highlands, and deservedly so. There is a superb level esplanade, a whisky distillery and woollen mills, whilst Pulpit Hill affords wonderful views across the Firth of Lorne with some unforgettable sunsets, and just offshore from the town lies the green island of Kerrera which is linked to Oban by passenger ferry. It’s a perfect base to tour the amazing west coast with its towering peaks, hidden lochs and spectacular coastal scenery.
