This lovely scenic holiday showcases the spectacular northern lakes, from our base in Derwentwater, and includes a steamer cruise on Ullswater and adventures by road through the quieter reaches of this beautiful corner of England.

FULL DAY: This morning to the market town of Penrith on the edge of the Lake District before we drive along the shores of Ullswater, one of the regions most famous lakes. At Glenridding we board a nostalgic Ullswater Steam Gondola for a Lakeland view of the surrounding scenery, before ascending the spectacular Kirkstone Pass on our return.
FULL DAY: Passing the waters of Bassenthwaite Lake we reach nthe pastel painted market town of Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth and with a fascinating history wall depicting its past. We continue around the westerly edge of the Lakes to Ravenglass where we join the tiny 15-inch gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to Dalegath, at the foot of the Lakeland peaks. After returning by train to Ravenglass we conclude our day in Whitehaven where the Whitehaven Rum Story is worth a visit.
HALF DAY: A half day excursion to the idyllic village of Grasmere today, where Wordsworth lived in Dove Cottage. It is also home
to Grasmere Gingerbread which is well worth tasting!
