Your ItineraryFULL DAY: Holy Island & Bamburgh
We make our way to Holy Island (subject to tidal conditions), known locally as Lindisfarne, famed for being the birthplace of English Christianity. We return via the stunning Northumbria coastal route stopping in Bamburgh with its iconic castle and fascinating Grace Darling Museum.
FULL DAY: Hexham & Durham
This morning we make our way to Hexham with its stately Abbey and Roman influences. This afternoon we head for Durham with its magnificent Norman cathedral which towers above a loop in the River Wear and delightful cobbled, medieval streets.
FULL DAY: Alnwick, Whitley Bay & South Shields
To Alnwick, where its fairytale castle, often referred to as ‘the Windsor of the North’, dominates the town. Afterwards we return along the coast to Whitley Bay with its landmark St. Mary’s Lighthouse, before completing our day in the small resort of South Sheilds.
