Grand Tour Of The West Country - 2021
7 Days Half Board by Coach
Highlights:Torquay, Dartmoor, Newquay, Land's End, St Ives, Isles of Scilly, Penzance, St Mary's, Exmoor National Park, Dunster.
This grand touring holiday takes in the best of the West Country, England’s favourite holiday destination. Here, the coastal scenery is unsurpassed, with golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, ancient fishing villages and top class resorts, whilst inland lie the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor. And because the sea is never far away, there’s a rich maritime heritage to discover too. Talking of the sea, we’ve also included a wonderful full day cruise to the magical Isles of Scilly, which lies some 30 miles beyond Land’s End.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
SUNDAY: From local departure points we head for the West Country, staying the first night in Torquay.
MONDAY: This morning enjoy a leisurely start in Torquay before we make our way further south west through the wild and rugged landscapes of Dartmoor. We arrive in the bustling seaside resort of Newquay where we stay for four nights.
TUESDAY: A superb full day excursion to Land’s End, England’s most westerly point, before continuing along the coastal road, past old mining communities, and a spectacularly rugged landscape, we come to lovely St Ives, one of our most picturesque small seaside resorts.
WEDNESDAY: One of the highlights of our tour today is the day trip by sea to the Isles of Scilly. After an early breakfast, we travel to Penzance for the morning sailing to the largest island, St. Mary’s, disembarking at the capital of Hugh Town where we join a local guide for a circular mini-bus drive around the island. We return to Penzance on the afternoon sailing and back to Newquay for a late dinner.
THURSDAY: Enjoy a free day in Newquay.
FRIDAY: Leaving Newquay we travel along the famous Atlantic Highway through Devon and into Exmoor National Park to visit medieval Dunster, dominated by its romantic castle. We continue to our overnight stop for one night.
SATURDAY: Our 'Grand Tour' of the West Country draws to a close with the journey home.
