First to Bowness-on-Windermere, the popular tourist haunt with its quaint alleyways and lively lakeside quays, before heading along the shores to pretty Lakeside. From here we head to Coniston Water, forever remembered as the fateful waters for Sir Donald Campbell’s Bluebird disaster.
HALF DAY: Ullswater, Kirkstone Pass, Hawkshead & Grasmere
Our tour today takes us towards Ullswater before ascending the spectacular Kirkstone Pass with its breathtaking lake and mountain views before we reach Hawkshead, one the Lake District’s most picturesque villages. We conclude our day in the idyllic village of Grasmere, where the poet William Wordsworth lived.
HALF DAY: Bassenthwaite Lake & Cockermouth
This morning we make our way towards the tranquil shores of Bassenthwaite Lake before arriving in Cockermouth, birthplace of Wordsworth, and with a fascinating history wall depicting its past.
