Here, in this most enchanting corner of England, spectacular fells glance gracefully down over crystal clear lakes, and the sound of running water is never far away. Based on the southern edges of the Lake District, close to Barrow-in-Furness, our scenic adventure includes two delightful railway journeys,
plus a truly memorable cruise aboard the Steam Yacht Gondola, a traditional Windermere ‘Steamer’. It’s a magical mix for those of you who have a nose for nostalgia and a love of scenic surprises.

FULL DAY: Haverwaite to Lakeside Railway, Lake Windermere Cruise, Ambleside & Hawkshead
First to Haverthwaite, where we take a ride on the preserved Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway to Lakeside, before boarding one of the lake ‘steamers’ for a cruise on Lake Windermere to Bowness. After some sightseeing time, we continue to the pretty village of Ambleside before concluding our day in Hawkshead, a gorgeous village of cottages and cobbles, where the poet William Wordsworth went to school.
FULL DAY: Ravenglass & Eskadale Railway to Dalegarth & Whitehaven Rum Story
A scenic tour along the Cumbrian coast to the village of Ravenglass, from where we take a train on the tiny 15-inch gauge Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to Dalegarth, at the foot of the Lakeland peaks. We return on the train to Ravenglass, then make our way to Whitehaven and a visit to the Whitehaven Rum Story, set in the original 1785 shop, courtyards, cellars and bonded warehouses of the locally renowned Jefferson family.
FULL DAY: Coniston Water Cruise & Keswick
This morning we take a cruise on Coniston Water on a sumptuous, plush, rebuilt Victorian steam-powered Gondola, before concluding our day in the market town of Keswick, set on the shores of Derwentwater where there is time to explore this lively tourist centre.
