One of the many joys of river cruising is sharing the company of like-minded travellers while the scenery eases gently by, knowing that everything is organised for you from start to finish. And on this easy cruising itinerary you’ll be treated to a fabulous journey along the spectacular River Rhine, starting in the vibrant city of Amsterdam, passing through the fabled Rhine Valley, and arriving on the French border in the enchanting city of Strasbourg. With delightful cruising and memorable visits along the way, there is no better way to experience the scenic splendours of the heart of Northern Europe.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Itinerary
Your Itinerary
DAY 1: From local joining points we cross the Channel and reach Amsterdam to join the MS La Bohème in time for welcome cocktails and dinner on board. After dinner join our included Amsterdam by night canal cruise.
DAY 2: This morning discover Amsterdam and its famous diamond merchants with an included guided tour. After lunch we include a visit to the stunning Keukenhof Gardens with its vast array of colour before re-joining our ship in Utrecht. This evening we cruise overnight through the more industrial region of the Rhine towards Cologne.
DAY 3: We continue cruising this morning to reach Cologne around lunchtime. This afternoon is free at leisure to explore Cologne or perhaps join an included tour of Cologne with the ship’s onboard tour directors. This evening enjoy a gala dinner evening on board.
DAY 4: This morning we cruise through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, passing the fabled Loreley Rock and pretty Boppard, to reach the popular tourist centre of Rudesheim. This afternoon we include an excursion to discover the vineyards surrounding Rudesheim as our land-train and guide details the rich history of the region. Returning to the town we visit the famous Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Museum, dedicated to unusual self-playing instruments, dating back three centuries. Afterwards enjoy free time to explore the famous Drosselgasse - a narrow lane crammed with friendly wine taverns.
DAY 5: Today we spend a full day relaxing on board as we cruise further up the Rhine and to the French border to reach our final destination, Strasbourg. We conclude our holiday in style this evening with a river boat cruise through Strasbourg.
DAY 6: After breakfast we disembark in Strasbourg for our return journey to Calais and onwards for a late arrival back home.
