Cardiff & The Black Gold Experience
5 Days Half Board by Coach
The capital of Wales has undergone a magnificent transformation over the past two decades – from a busy industrial city to a cosmopolitan city of culture, character and charm. The old harbourside of Cardiff Bay has been transformed into a district of bars, cafés and museums while the city centre is packed with grand architecture and great shopping. Out and about there is so much to see and our holiday features some of the best attractions in the area – from a tour of the old Royal Mint to the Black Gold Experience at the Museum of Welsh Mining.
Grand UK Bonus!
• Welsh Cakes • Tea & Coffee on arrival • Cardiff Arms Park Male Voice Choir rehearsal
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Full Day: This morning we head to the Royal Mint Visitor Centre on the outskirts of Cardiff. Here we include a guided factory experience as metal is turned into coins, followed by some free time in the remainder of the exhibition. This afternoon we visit the fascinating Museum of Welsh Mining and the new Black Gold Experience tour, following in the footsteps of miners that worked at the ‘home of coal’ in the heart of the Rhondda Valley.
Half Day: An extended half day as we head to the border town of Monmouth before following the scenic Wye Valley past Tintern Abbey to the Roman town of Chepstow.
Free Day: Enjoy a day to explore the Welsh capital. The majestic castle is well worth a visit while the harbour front has been transformed into a vibrant area of café’s, bars and shops.
