FULL DAY: Monmouth, Symonds Yat and Forest of Dean RailwayTo the pretty market town of Monmouth this morning before we continue to Symonds Yat, sitting on a great loop with the river far below. From here we include a gentle cruise on the River Wye, including tea or coffee on board as our local captain navigates one of the most beautiful stretches of waterway in Britain. Afterwards, we tour the lovely Forest of Dean before boarding the Forest of Dean Railway for a 4 ½ mile journey through woodland and countryside.
FULL DAY: Brecon Beacons and Brecon Mountain Railway
Today we tour into the scenic Brecon Beacons National Park, to enjoy a ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway, one of the most popular steam railways in Wales. This afternoon we come to Brecon, the gateway to the National Park where we visit the interesting visitor centre. Later we return through the former mining villages of the Rhondda Valley.
FULL DAY: Gloucester & Chepstow
To the city of Gloucester today where we visit Gloucester Docks and the National Waterways Museum, a journey through 200 years of Britain’s inland waterways. Afterwards enjoy some free time in Gloucester Docks, with its shops and eateries or perhaps visit the Soldiers of Gloucester Museum or take an easy stroll into the city centre, dominated by the impressive Gloucester Cathedral. We return to our hotel along the banks of the Severn, making a short visit to the town of Chepstow.
