6 Day Select Holiday
This fascinating holiday is based in the heart of wonderful Waterford, a thousand-year-old city with a medieval flavour and we include a free day to wander its atmospheric streets, lively waterfront and, perhaps, its eponymous crystal factory. We visit Wexford, a city founded by the Vikings in 800 AD, and known for its medieval lanes and buildings dating from the Middle Ages including the Westgate Tower and
Selskar Abbey. We continue to New Ross where we experience the Dunbrody Famine Ship, an authentic reproduction of an 1840s vessel with mighty masts and billowing rigging, and where costumed characters tell the story of the Irish famine emigrants heading to a new life in America. On another day, we venture out to the bijou city of Kilkenny where you’ll find historic treasures around every corner – especially its truly magnificent castle. Our final treats are visits to the captivating Rock of Cashel and pretty Cahir.

Your Excursions
Wexford & Dunbrody Famine ShipOur day begins in Wexford, home to a pretty marina, medieval buildings and an arts centre. We then head to New Ross, where we explore the Dunbrody Famine Ship experiencing life as a famine emigrant through costumed characters. This authentic fullscale reproduction of an 1840’s emigrant vessel depicts life onboard.
Guided Tour of Kilkenny
This bijou yet charming city abounds with historic treasures, and we include a guided tour to kick start your sightseeing. Afterwards, step behind the imposing stone walls of Kilkenny Castle, see the soaring eaves of St Canice’s Cathedral, view the colourful stained glass of medieval Black Abbey or explore Rothe House – a unique sixteenth century townhouse. Elsewhere, you’ll find the Kilkenny Design Centre shopping mall with its Irish handcrafted gifts, and St Mary’s Church, which houses the Medieval Mile Museum, filled with artefacts and sculptures.
Rock of Cashel & Cahir
The Rock of Cashel – also known as Cashel of the Kings & St Patrick’s Rock - is an intriguing group of medieval buildings set in a dramatic outcrop of limestone in the Golden Vale. The most impressive cluster of ancient buildings in Ireland, it includes a round tower, high cross, Romanesque chapel and gothic cathedral. It is a remarkable and spectacular tourist attraction. Later, we continue to the quaint town of Cahir.
