Strasbourg, the formal seat of the European Union, is renowned for its Gothic cathedral while the old university town of Mainz is celebrated as ‘Gutenberg’s City’ due to the first printing press being created here. 2000-year-old Koblenz enjoys a picturesque setting at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, while Cologne, Haarlem and Amsterdam each offer unique charms.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One. We journey to our overnight ferry to the continent, where we enjoy dinner, entertainment and breakfast  onboard.
Day Two. We travel into the heart of Amsterdam for free time to explore. Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum and the Royal Palace in Dam Square are just some of the city’s attractions. Later, we board our ship and settle into our cabins before a welcome cocktail then dinner.
Day Three. An excursion to enchanting Haarlem, a medieval city with cobblestoned streets, gabled houses, and the picture postcard Windmill De Adriaan. Dinner onboard is followed by an evening of music and dancing as we cruise to Nijmegen.
Day Four. We rejoin our coach for an excursion to the Dutch Open-Air Museum in Arnhem. This popular attraction showcases life in Holland through the country’s history with old homes, farms and factories. Stroll through the exhibits or hop aboard the authentic trams. Dinner and entertainment onboard as you sail to Cologne.
Day Five. Enjoy some free time exploring Cologne where the main attractions are its majestic cathedral which houses the Shrine of the Three Kings, and the Museum Ludwig, home to a Picasso collection. Later, we rejoin our ship in Koblenz. Here you might like to take the cable car up to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress or view the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle at Deutsches Eck promontory.
Day Six. This morning, your ship sails through the Rhine Valley to Mainz where you’ll have free time to explore. This onetime Roman fort city has a fairytale centre, elaborate cathedral and is home to the Gutenberg Museum. Dinner onboard, then music and dancing as your ship glides to Strasbourg.
Day Seven. Relax and enjoy the passing scenery until your ship arrives in Strasbourg this afternoon. Perhaps explore the city’s Cathedral Notre Dame, visit one of the many museums or relax in Place Kleber. Tonight, it’s gala evening onboard as you sail to Breisach.
Day Eight. Our cruise continues to Colmar. Step into a storybook as you explore the town’s Little Venice area with its half-timbered houses, canals and twisting lanes. Its Unterlinden Museum boasts works of art and exhibits spanning over 7000 years. Dinner and entertainment onboard as your ship cruises to Basel.
Day Nine. Breakfast onboard then we disembark and head to our dinner, bed and breakfast overnight hotel.
Day Ten. We continue to our ferry back to the UK, enjoying dinner, entertainment and breakfast onboard.
Day Eleven. We travel home after our exciting holiday.

Perhaps join one of the ship’s optional excursions on your free days. The crew are dedicated to being of service, offering attentiveness and great knowledge and speaking both English and French to add a continental flavour to your holiday. All cabins are ensuite with shower, satellite TV, a safe, hairdryer and air-conditioning and all face outwards, giving views of the river. Upgrades are available for cabins higher on the vessel and some cabins have French balconies or private terraces. Free Wi-Fi is also available on board.

CroisiEurope have a fine reputation for their cuisine. Start your day at the impressive self-service buffet, offering an expansive continental breakfast. Lunch and dinner are prepared from local specialties, with fresh ingredients, and carefully planned with an eye on the traditions of fine French gastronomy. What’s more, each dish is paired with excellent complimentary wines. The overall atmosphere on board is informal with casual clothing, although most guests like to dress up in the evening.

Overnight Ferry to Continent

Your holiday moves up a gear when you board your overnight ferry for your sailing to the continent. Drop your overnight bag in your cabin then explore the ship or unwind with an aperitif in one of the bars.

On Board Dining

All GLENTON continental holidays include dinner and breakfast onboard. Head to buffet restaurant where your waiter will show you to your table and take your order if you wish to purchase any drinks. Then you’re free to help yourself from the wide selection of tasty dishes from around the world. At breakfast, choose from continental or a fully cooked menu. Alternatively if you fancy treating yourself, why not upgrade to the à la carte restaurant and enjoy fine dining with full waiter service?

Entertainment

Make your way to the show lounge and enjoy live entertainment throughout the evening – or take your place on the dance floor for a wee boogie! Perhaps you’d like to catch a blockbuster movie at the cinema or try your luck at the casino.

Cabins

Your GLENTON continental holiday includes an air conditioned inside en suite cabin with bunk beds. However, you can upgrade to a cabin with level beds and/or sea view for a small supplement. Please ask your holiday advisor when booking.

MS Symphonie

The Premium MS Symphonie has a stylish restaurant with panoramic windows giving waterfront views while the crew serve superb cuisine. Relax in the elegant lounge bar or perhaps take to the dance floor. The sun deck is furnished with loungers and is where a morning fitness class takes place. Cabins are ensuite with  shower, TV, safe, air-conditioning and wi-fi. There is also a reception desk and gift shop.
