Dawlish & Teignmouth
Dawlish has a bustling town centre and a fantastic, long sandy beach from where you can take boat trips around the bay. Teignmouth boasts a traditional Victorian pier, a pleasant promenade, lido, pretty parks and a heritage centre.
We head to this historic city where you might like to follow the City Wall trail, explore the thousand-year-old castle or visit Northenhay Gardens. This fine city also boasts the attractive Quayside area and offers a selection of independent shops as well as trendy and traditional cafés.
Paignton & Dartmouth River Cruise
Enjoy a morning visit to pretty Paignton, home to a pleasure pier and quaint harbour. From here we continue to Dartmouth where we embark on a delightful cruise on the River Dart, sailing us past Kingswear, the Britannia Royal Navy College, the tiny village of Dittisham, Sir Walter Raleigh’s boathouse and Agatha Christie’s Greenway House (seven day holidays only).
Torquay exudes a continental ambience with luxury yachts gracing the harbour, golden beaches, swaying palm trees, elegant street façades and exotic gardens. Be sure to see Kents Cavern, a spectacular cave network that you’ll find just a short walk from Meadfoot Beach. Elsewhere, you might like to explore award-winning Babbacombe Model Village where you’ll find miniature houses and people displayed with a splash of humour and a soupçon of history. Speaking of times past, Torre Abbey Historic House & Gardens is a lovingly preserved medieval monastery with a fine gatehouse and abbot’s tower set in glorious grounds and well worth a visit. Enjoy an al fresco cuppa at the Quayside or perhaps stroll along popular Princess Pier promenade where Agatha Christie roller-skated in her youth. Don’t miss Torquay Museum with its exhibition dedicated to the aforementioned Queen of Crime! Guests staying at the Marquis Hotel on our leisurely pace holiday will enjoy a dinner, bed and breakfast stop in the heart of England on the outward journey.Back to top
