Eastbourne nestles on England’s southeast coast and has a timeless seafront bordered by period architecture dating from the town’s beginnings as a Victorian seaside resort. It is home to the manicured Carpet Gardens and boasts award-winning beaches, a traditional 1930s bandstand and a historic Old Town with a twelfth century pub. Wander along the level promenade or hop aboard the seafront train to see the sights. Perhaps head to Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park for a stroll around the lake or a locomotive trip through the picturesque grounds. Head to the Sovereign Marina where you’ll find four linked harbours, stunning seascapes and the Waterfront development with its range of eateries and gift shops. Maybe view British modern art at Towner Art Gallery. Opt for our leisurely pace holiday and you’ll enjoy a restful dinner, bed & breakfast stop en route to Eastbourne.

Your ExcursionsRye & Hastings
Rye is an enchanting little village, set on a hillside, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. It is like a town suspended in time with picturesque ancient streets and meandering cobbled lanes. Perhaps visit the thirteenth century castle known as Ypres Tower where you’ll find a medieval garden and museum. Or head to the National Trust’s Lamb House, the onetime home of author Henry James. Don’t miss Mermaid Street with its oddly named homes. Later we call at Hastings, home to a well preserved Old Town. Its keep and bailey castle takes you back to the 1066 battle.
Lewes & Brighton
The historic market town of Lewes boasts a variety of attractions such as thecommanding Norman Castle, Anne of Cleves House, a Saxon priory and delightful Grange Gardens as well as the oldest independent brewery in Sussex. We move on to Brighton, where you might like to explore the landmark pier or wander the narrow passageways, crammed with cosy cafes.
Worthing & the South Downs National Park
Worthing has five miles of palm tree lined promenade and an award-winning beach. Perhaps view the fascinating exhibits at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery or make your way to Brooklands Park and relax by the boating lake. From here, we move on to the South Downs National Park to feast our eyes on its chalk grasslands, hidden villages and historic estates (not available on Select leisurely pace holiday dates).
