Itinerary

Overview

Eastbourne oozes charm with a timeless seafront bordered by period architecture dating from the town’s beginnings as a Victorian resort. Graceful and unspoilt, it is home to the famous Carpet Gardens and boasts award-winning beaches, a traditional bandstand and its historic Old Town blends seamlessly with a modern marina. Wander along the level promenade or hop aboard the seafront train for a fun way to see the sights. Perhaps make your way to Eastbourne Pier where you can step back in time and enjoy afternoon tea in refined splendour. Our holiday includes overnight stops on both legs of your journey so you arrive and return home refreshed.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One. From local joining points, we make our way to our overnight hotel.

Day Two. After breakfast, we continue south to Eastbourne and check into the Britannia Cavendish Hotel.

Day Three. We venture out to the historic market town of Lewes, dominated by an imposing Norman castle and home to antique shops. Later, we move on to Brighton where you might like to explore the landmark pier or wander the narrow passageways, crammed with exotic shops and cafés.

Day Four. Relax or explore Eastbourne at your own pace. Perhaps head to Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway Adventure Park for a stroll around the five acre lake and award winning gardens or take a locomotive trip through the picturesque grounds.

Day Five. Another free day to relax or do your own thing. Maybe you’d like to visit the remarkable Redoubt Fortress, a circular fort built during the Napoleonic wars. It was also used during both First and Second World Wars and houses exhibitions of military campaigns.

Day Six. Treats today take in Rye, a town suspended in time with its beautifully preserved dwellings from Medieval, Tudor and Georgian times. From here, we call at Bexhill-on-Sea, a seaside resort with beachfront cafés, gently sloping beach and a wide promenade.

Day Seven. We check out and make our way to our dinner, bed and breakfast stop.

Day Eight. We journey home.
