5 Day Coach Holiday

Thurso is the most northerly town in mainland Scotland with a history dating back to the Vikings. The town is a hive of traditional shops, bars and tearooms, and makes a pretty base for our sightseeing. This area boasts dramatic coastal scenery and colonies of seabirds. Perhaps head to RSPB Dunnet Head, where the sea cliffs are home to puffins, razorbills and cormorants. Thurso seafront is lovely to explore with its sandy beach, esplanade and castle ruins. Other landmarks include a circular well-house and the ruins of a twelfth century church. Maybe visit Wolfburn whisky distillery where you can watch craftsmen make the single malt.

Your Excursions

Day Trip to Orkney
We board our ferry for the forty minute crossing to Orkney, where a local coach will take you on an island tour. First stop is the island capital of Kirkwall, home to a twelfth century cathedral and picturesque harbour. We continue to beautiful Stromness where you can perhaps treat yourself to lunch. Later, we visit Skara Brae - a Stone Age settlement. Final stops are at the Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones of Stenness and the Italian Chapel.

John O’Groats & Pentland Firth Wildlife Cruise
We head to John O’Groats - don’t forget to snap a photo at the famous signpost! We enjoy a wildlife cruise through the Pentland Firth. Watch out for grey seals, dolphins, minke whales and porpoises as well as seabirds such as puffins, kittiwakes, guillemots and razorbills.

Wick
A morning visit to the former Viking settlement of Wick, home to an interesting heritage centre.
