9 Day Coach Holiday

Weymouth, Bournemouth, Lyme Regis, Poole & Swanage
On this beach bonanza break, we take in five seaside resorts that stud the gorgeous Jurassic Coast - a ninety-five mile long stretch of coastline and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This region lies within the counties of Devon and Dorset and is the only place on Earth where rocks from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods can be seen together in one location! We stay in Weymouth where the golden sands were awarded the accolade of Beach of the Year 2023 by The Times newspaper. This arc of shoreline buzzes with traditional seaside fun. The resort has a grand Georgian seafront lined with alfresco cafés and a picturesque old harbour from where you can watch all the comings and goings of luxury yachts, fishing trawlers and RNLI Lifeboats. Don’t miss Nothe Fort, built by the Victorians and a popular attraction with secret passageways, including the spooky Ghost Tunnel. Head up to the fort’s striking ramparts to enjoy breathtaking views of the Jurassic Coast. Relax in one of Weymouth’s many parks, browse the independent shops, or experience the sights and sounds of nature at the wetland reserves.

Your Excursions

Seaton Tramway & Lyme Regis
Our first treat today is a trip aboard the award winning Seaton Tramway, a narrow gauge heritage tram taking you on a journey along the River Exe estuary and through two nature reserves, enjoying unrivalled views of unspoilt countryside and wading birds. We continue to Lyme Regis, a village set against moody blue cliffs with an intriguing mystique and a harbour called ‘The Cobb’. The resort has a number of historical landmarks, most notably the fourteenth century watermill and the fascinating Lepers' Well. Perhaps unwind in pretty Langmoor & Lister Gardens.
Dorchester & Jurassic Coast
The market town of Dorchester was the inspiration for fictional “Casterbridge” in Thomas Hardy’s novels and is home to a statue of the great author. There is also a must see Roman Town House that was uncovered in the 1930s and is now a Grade I listed monument. We return via the breathtaking Jurassic Coast with its dramatic cliffs, secluded coves, shingle banks and sandy beaches.
Bournemouth
Unwind on Bournemouth’s beautiful beach, explore the pleasure piers, wander through the pedestrianised shopping area, or visit Russell-Cotes Art Gallery, housed in a Grade I listed building and presenting themed displays.
Poole & Swanage
Poole boasts the second largest natural harbour in the world. From here, you might like to take a boat trip to idyllic Brownsea Island. Just a short walk from the quay is Poole Park with its picturesque lake, crazy golf and miniature railway. Poole’s Old Town features grand Georgian houses and a museum set in a Victorian warehouse which explores local history. We continue to Swanage, a seaside town on the Jurassic Coast
with a Victorian pier, steam trains and cafes by the sea.
