5 Day Coach Holiday

The fifty-mile-long Isle of Skye lies off the West Coast of Scotland and is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides as well as being renowned for natural beauty and wildlife. Its diverse history takes in dinosaur fossils, clan warfare and Highland clearances along with infamous Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite Rebellion. Pretty Broadford is our base for this island adventure. The second largest settlement on the island, it is where visitors arrive after crossing the Skye Bridge. It has the spectacular Red Cuillin mountains as a backdrop and it is home to an old pier as well as craft shops.

Your Excursions

Guided Tour of Dunvegan Castle & Portree
A guided tour takes us to Dunvegan Castle which stands on a rock in an idyllic loch side setting and houses fine paintings and clan treasures. We proceed to the island capital of Portree for some free time to explore. The main town on the Isle of Skye, it is built around a natural harbour that is used by fishing boats and pleasure  craft.

Armadale to Mallaig Sailing
We head to the hamlet of Armadale on the Sleat Peninsula for a sailing across the Sound of Sleat to Mallaig on the Scottish mainland, watching out for sea wildlife. Once ashore, perhaps stretch your legs on the Mallaig Circuit walk, taking in views over the harbour.

Trotternish Peninsula
We head to the northernmost peninsula on Skye, passing iconic sites such as the Storr and the Quirang and enjoying seascapes in all directions. We take in the ruined fortress at Duntulm, the port of Uig and Flora McDonald’s grave. We also visit the Museum of Island Life where we learn how crofters scratched a living from the land.
