Swansea & Gower Peninsula
5 Day Coach Holiday
Swansea is a stylish waterfront city on the south coast of Wales. Its popular Mumbles area is a seaside village that marks the start of the Gower Peninsula coastline. This pretty resort is watched over by twelfth century Oystermouth Castle and is home to a Grade II listed Victorian pier. Swansea has several parks including colourful Clyne Gardens with its exotic plants and quirky structures such as the Japanese Bridge, Admiral’s Tower and Gazebo. The city’s other attractions include the impressive National Waterfront Museum where the story of Wales unfolds. This metropolis is also renowned as a vibrant focal point for art with the Glynn Vivian Gallery being the leading venue with its distinctive collection, formed over the last century. The interesting Dylan Thomas Centre is an exhibition of the life and times of the literary giant while Plantasia is a huge glass pyramid housing tropical flowers, a rainforest and endangered animals. Perhaps enjoy some retail therapy and sample local delicacies at Swansea market.

Your ExcursionsGuided tour of Cardiff
We enjoy a guided tour of Cardiff, a port city that hugs the south coast of Wales where the River Taff meets the Severn Estuary. Proclaimed Wales’s capital in 1955, it is home to Edwardian architecture and a stylish waterfront housing the Millennium Centre and the Mermaid Quay leisure complex. Afterwards, continue exploring at your own pace. Perhaps explore its castle that tells a story dating back over 2000 years. This commanding fortress began life as a Roman Fort, became a Norman fortress then a Victorian gothic extravaganza complete with gargoyles and lavishly furnished rooms. Later, this imposing bastion housed wartime shelters.
Swansea Bay, Mumbles & Gower Peninsula
We explore our surroundings taking in the Swansea Bay area on the Bristol Channel with its sweep of sandy beach. From here, we continue to quaint Mumbles, gateway to the Gower Peninsula and home to Oystermouth Castle and an eighteenth century lighthouse. We proceed into the peninsula where you’ll be awestruck by the golden sands, limestone cliffs and wild moorland – little wonder Gower was designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Captivating Tenby was established as a fortified town by the Normans and much of its thirteenth century walls still remain, encircling this medieval settlement and its labyrinth of narrow alleyways. You’ll find quirky shops and pavement cafes while Blue flag beaches reach out in all directions like a carpet of gold. Perhaps visit the ancient church or the atmospheric Tudor Merchant’s House. Boats sail from Tenby harbour to the monastic island of Caldey whilst, at low tide, St Catherine’s Island is linked to the town.
