We include a guided tour of the resort’s Grade I listed Lytham Hall, a grandiose Georgian house set in parkland which houses fine art and furnishings. We spend a day in Liverpool where you can explore at your own pace perhaps taking in the listed buildings, superb museums and notable landmarks or follow the time-honoured tradition of hopping aboard the colourful ferry across the Mersey for the ultimate sightseeing experience. We also visit Lancaster, a historic gem where landmarks include the gothic revival cathedral, a foreboding castle with origins dating back to the Romans, the Grade I listed priory, and the Georgian townhouse known as the Judges Lodgings. Your Excursions

Lancaster City
This grandiose heritage city features cobbled lanes and secluded squares adorned by Georgian architecture and a medieval castle with over a thousand years of tales to tell. Its ancient priory houses Viking artefacts, crusader coffins and part of a Jacobean pulpit. Find out all about Lancaster through the ages at the City Museum or enjoy a wander around picturesque Williamson Park where you’ll find a butterfly house, bird enclosure and views across to Morecambe Bay.

Liverpool
Visitor attractions include Albert Dock where you can step back to the 1960s and discover how four young Liverpool lads were thrust to the dizzying heights of fame at The Beatles Story - a living history museum where the band’s legend unfolds through memorabilia, photographs and replicas. Sticking with the Fab Four, perhaps venture through the bright red gates of Strawberry Field – the famous grounds where a young John Lennon came to reflect. This interactive experience tells the tale of the Victorian children’s home and John Lennon’s childhood. Albert Dock is also home to The Tate Liverpool, International Slavery Museum and the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Perhaps follow the time honoured tradition of catching the ferry across the Mersey, or use the hop on, hop off bus to see the sights.

Lytham Hall Guided Tour

A morning guided tour of Lytham Hall, a Grade I listed 18th century Georgian manor house. Your guide will reveal all about the colourful Clifton family who were accused of conspiracy during a plot to restore James II to the throne. View intricate plasterwork, Gillow furniture, family portraits and historic artwork. Afterwards, have a cuppa in the tearoom or explore the beautiful grounds where you’ll find manicured gardens, a lily pond and a dovecote. Rest of the day free in St Annes.
