This wonderful tour affords the opportunity to enjoy a seaside holiday as well as the sights and sounds of two fascinating and diverse cities. Southport’s attractions include a Grade II listed pier complete with tramcar and a seafront marine lake. The resort’s promenade is home to the Waterfront Arts Project and King’s Gardens whilst the British Lawnmower Museum promises a unique experience. Away from the waterfront Southport’s Botanic Gardens simply burst with floral displays, offering a plethora of pathways to explore. For retail therapy, inspiring Lord Street is the epitome of elegant shopping in classy Victorian surroundings. For a change of scenery, we explore two very different cities; the walled city of Chester and lively Liverpool, one time home of The Beatles.
The attractions in this picturesque walled city are endless. Walk the City Walls, soak up the serene ambience in the beautiful cathedral, discover the rich history at the Grosvenor Museum, view Eastgate with its clock that marks the entrance to the Roman Fortress, learn about the British Army at the Military Museum, stroll through leafy Grosvenor Park and along the banks of the River Dee or discover the Roman amphitheatre, the castle and The Rows (guided city tour included on Select holidays).
Visitor attractions include Albert Dock where you’ll find The Beatles Story, The Tate Liverpool, the International Slavery Museum and the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Elsewhere, you might like to trace the footsteps of the Fab Four or catch the ferry across the Mersey.
