Itinerary

Overview

This enjoyably varied tour takes in one of England’s finest stately homes along with the picturesque Peak District market town of Bakewell and a brace of historic cities. Set in beautiful parkland, refined Chatsworth House is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and is an astonishing landmark with resplendent rooms adorned with the paintings and artefacts that have shaped its history. We spend a day in Lincoln, a graceful city and where we include a guided tour of the splendid cathedral. Our final treat is a visit to fairytale York.

Your Excursions

Chatsworth House & Bakewell
Chatsworth House boasts a stunning interior including the grand Painted Hall, imperial State Rooms and striking art collections. Outside, the lush gardens feature leafy trails and intriguing sculptures. We continue to Bakewell, home of the eponymous tart and grand old houses.

Lincoln & guided tour of Lincoln Cathedral
As you approach Lincoln, you are immediately drawn to the imposing silhouette of the cathedral with its impressive Romanesque front. Regarded as one of the finest gothic buildings in Europe, we include a guided tour giving you an insight into the colourful history of the building. Afterwards, continue exploring Lincoln at your own pace – perhaps visit the castle.

York
We head into this impressive city – take time to view the magnificent minster and city walls.
