Select Harrogate & The Yorkshire Dales
5 Day Select Holiday
The Victorian spa town of Harrogate is renowned for its healing waters and the stylish Montpellier Quarter whilst legendary Betty’s Tearooms abound with traditional charm. Perhaps visit Spofforth Castle, an imposing fortress that dates back to the Norman conquests and reputedly the place where the Magna Carta was drawn up in 1215. View the fine art at Mercer Art Gallery, discover Harrogate’s connection to Russian royalty at the Royal Pump House or relax in Valley Gardens where you’ll find seasonal flowers and historic buildings such as the Sun Pavilion and colonnades. We explore the Yorkshire Dales where we include entrance to the fascinating Countryside Museum. Housed in an imaginative conversion of Hawes Railway Station, here the story of the Yorkshire Dales is told with themes such as school days, home life and local crafts. Another treat is our day in fairytale York, a historic gem celebrated for its Roman, Viking and medieval heritage and famed for its Gothic minster.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.

Dales Countryside Museum & Leyburn
We include entry to the captivating Dales Countryside Museum which is housed in a Victorian railway station and tells the story of the people who have lived and worked in the Yorkshire Dales over the past thousand years. See the station’s locomotive and climb aboard the carriages, view ancient artefacts such as a Bronze Age spear and a gold Viking ring then discover the special exhibitions. From here, we head to the fine market town of Leyburn, set in Wensleydale and home to a good choice of shops and cafés as well as pleasant walks through the scenic Shawl.
At the heart of York stands the tremendous thirteenth century Gothic minster; truly a masterpiece of sculptured stone, functioning bell towers and stained glass windows. The City Walls form a pleasant walkway on both banks of the River Ouse while York Castle is an imposing tower, set high on a mound giving panoramic views across the cityscape. Roam the labyrinth of alleyways, take a boat trip or sip a drink by the river. Perhaps broaden your mind at one of the absorbing museums such as the National Railway Museum or the award winning Jorvik Viking Centre where you can step back a thousand years to the Middle Ages.
