This holiday of contrast takes us to the heart of England for a series of enthralling excursions. First up is Ludlow, a thriving medieval market town, followed by a visit to Worcester a beautiful Cathedral and University City with a fascinating history. We step back in time when we head to the Ironbridge Gorge and see how life was lived over a century ago at Blists Hill Victorian Town. Other delights on this fascinating holiday include Shrewsbury, one of England’s most splendid heritage sites where landmarks include St Chad's Church and the Quantum Leap sculpture.
Ludlow & Worcester
We begin in Ludlow, a lovely market town with georgian houses, a pretty river and cross shaped church. From here we make our way to ancient Worcester where the skyline is dominated by the tower of the cathedral and the spires of All Saints Church.
Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site & Blists Hill Victorian Town
The World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge is where the Industrial Revolution began and home to the first ever cast iron bridge. At fascinating Blists Hill you can dress up in a Victorian costume, buy old favourites at the sweet shop and explore period cottages.
Birthplace of Charles Darwin, Shrewsbury is a splendid heritage site and home to over six hundred listed buildings. Impressive sights include St Chad’s Church with its distinctive round shape, an eleventh century abbey and a red sandstone castle that houses impressive collections of art and historic artefacts. Don’t miss the Quantum Leap sculpture next to the River Severn, created to honour Darwin, the town’s most famous son.
