An ambience of Christmas past emerges as we indulge in a magical medley of nostalgic markets. First up is bubbly Rudesheim where the picture postcard old quarter and quirky Drosselgasse are the evocative settings for the town’s  Christmas spectacular. Here, over a hundred stalls showcase traditions and tastes from around the world – don’t miss the local coffee, deliciously laced with brandy and topped with whipped cream. Heidelberg’s yuletide fair extends over five historic squares and features wooden huts, beautiful decorations and an enchanting ice rink beneath the fairytale castle. The festive extravaganza in Koblenz sees the baroque town hall turned into a huge advent calendar while the famous ‘Schangel’ boy fountain watches over the decorated stalls. Staying at the popular Rheinhotel Lamm, overlooking the Rhine in the pretty hamlet of Assmannshausen.

All GLENTON continental holidays include dinner and breakfast onboard. Head to buffet restaurant where your waiter will show you to your table and take your order if you wish to purchase any drinks. Then you’re free to help yourself from the wide selection of tasty dishes from around the world. At breakfast, choose from continental or a fully cooked menu. Alternatively if you fancy treating yourself, why not upgrade to the à la carte restaurant and enjoy fine dining with full waiter service?

This traditional and family run hotel is ideally situated just across a road from the Rhine in the picture postcard hamlet of Assmannshausen. It has a pleasant terrace café where you can relax with a drink and watch a variety of vessels gliding past on the river.
