This mini cruise combines coastal scenery with fascinating history. Orkney boasts pristine beaches and dramatic seas crashing against towering cliffs. The island’s attractions include standing stones known as the Ring of Brodgar, the harbour of Stromness, and Skara Brae – a Stone Age settlement that predates the Pyramids. Shetland has a craggy coastline peppered with arches and caves. Lerwick is the county town and the isle boasts Bronze Age, Viking and Medieval settlements as well as Jarlshof – one of the most remarkable archaeological sites ever excavated. We include an overnight hotel stay in the highlands before returning home.

Your Excursions
Guided Tour of ShetlandWe head to Aberdeen to board our Northlink ferry in the evening and set sail to Shetland with dinner on board. After breakfast, we meet our guide in Lerwick for a tour taking in landmarks such as the archaeological site of Jarlshof and Scalloway Castle. Afterwards, you’ll have free time to explore before we re-join our ship for an early evening sail to Orkney, with dinner on board before we check in to our overnight hotel in Kirkwall.
Guided Tour of Orkney
After breakfast, we enjoy a morning at leisure in Kirkwall. This afternoon we make our way to Stromness to meet our local guide for our tour of the World Heritage Site of Skara Brae, the mystical Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness and Scapa Flow. We board our ferry for the short journey to Scrabster on the mainland and journey to our overnight hotel in the Highlands in time for dinner.
