We uncover the legend of Robin Hood with our visits to the Rufford Abbey Country Park section of Sherwood Forest before heading to notorious Nottingham. Take time to visit one of England’s oldest inn – Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, venture to the cave network which runs beneath Nottingham. Out and about we head to Thoresby Courtyard & Gallery and spend a day in historic Lincoln where the many treasures include the magnificent cathedral, one of the finest gothic buildings in Europe.
Sherwood Forest & Nottingham
We head first to Rufford Abbey Country Park – the grounds of a former twelfth century monastery and part of legendary Sherwood Forest. We continue to Nottingham, the historic city at the heart of the Robin Hood legend. A large pedestrainised compact city, take time to explore The Lace Market or take in Nottingham Contemporary, a modern art gallery.

Working crafts people work side by side with elegant retail outlets in the this stunning Grade II listed building, an art gallery and military museum complete the site.
As you approach Lincoln, you are immediately drawn to the imposing silhouette of the cathedral with its impressive Romanesque front. In the oldest part of the city, the castle was built over the original Roman town.
