Northumbria Coastline, Newcastle & Medieval Alnwick
5 days
5 Day Select Holiday
Cosmopolitan Newcastle is a pulsating metropolis united by seven bridges that span the River Tyne and makes an exciting base for our enjoyably varied holiday. The city’s bustling Quayside area features bars and cafes as well as the iconic Millennium Bridge - an easy on the eye structure and the world’s only tilting bridge. Take a boat trip on the Tyne or visit the intriguing Norman Castle, which stands on ground previously occupied by a Roman fort. It has fascinating medieval dungeons and offers spectacular cityscape views. Head to the Life Science Museum where you’ll find a stunning seven metre re-creation of planet Earth as well as the Space Zone with its replica of the international space station and moon buggies to test drive.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.

Your Excursions
Guided Tour of Alnwick Castle GroundsAn Alnwick on location tour where a guide takes us on a cinematic journey around the castle grounds that have played a part in historical dramas, Shakespeare adaptations and blockbuster movies, most famously, two Harry Potter films. We also explore Alnwick Gardens that are brought to life with water fountains, exotic plants and flowers as well as the Poison Garden with some of the deadliest plants in the world.
Morpeth & Newcastle
A morning visit to Morpeth, where you’ll find an ancient castle and the thirteenth century Grade I listed Chantry that houses a large collection of bagpipes. There are also independent shops and traditional tearooms. Afternoon is free in Newcastle – the castle,
Life Science Museum and the Quayside area are all popular attractions.
Bamburgh & Lindisfarne
We call at charming Bamburgh with its beautiful beach, storybook castle and a fascinating museum dedicated to Grace Darling - a lighthouse keeper’s daughter who risked her life to save stranded survivors of the wrecked steamship, Forfarshire. Later we move on to Lindisfarne, a World Heritage Site and an isle that is said to be the birthplace of Christianity. This tidal island boasts stunning scenery and is where you can follow in the footsteps of the monks who built their priory here 1400 years ago.
