Set on a hill above the River Swilly, lovely Letterkenny is the largest town in the beautiful region of County Donegal. The rugged coastline is sprinkled with sandy beaches that glisten against a backdrop of mountains and moors. You will find craft shops, pretty parks, heritage sites and the warmest of welcomes. This enthralling holiday gives you a delicious taste of coast and country life in the most traditional part of Ireland. We venture out to Derry with its grand procession of Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture all encircled by ancient walls. On another day we head to the village of Belleek on the banks of Lough Erne to visit the Belleek Pottery Factory before continuing to Donegal Town for free time to explore this pretty riverside town. A morning discovering spectacular Glenveagh National Park with its picturesque landscape concludes our sightseeing.
Enjoy a day in this recently rejuvenated walled city where intriguing sights include St Columbs Cathedral and the political murals. Perhaps visit the award winning Tower Museum where “The Story of Derry” and “An Armada Shipwreck” are the main exhibitions.
Belleek Pottery Centre & Donegal Town
We visit Belleek where we call in at the famous pottery centre which houses some of the finest porcelain china in the world. Afterwards, we move on to Donegal Town for free time. Perhaps treat yourself to a cruise aboard Ireland’s largest waterbus gliding past tiny islands and wildlife. Elsewhere, visit the craft village, the ancient castle or the Railway Heritage Museum.
Glenveagh National Park
A morning outing to the glorious landscape of untamed wilderness, craggy mountains, glassy lakes, cascading waterfalls and enchanted native oak woodland in this lovely national park. We visit one of the finest gardens in Ireland where the Visitor Centre houses engaging exhibitions and an audio-visual show.Back to top
