Llandudno is a charming seaside resort that guarantees all the fun of a traditional beach break with esplanade Punch & Judy shows and a pleasure pier crammed with games arcades and cafes. Above the town is Great Orme limestone headland and the resort’s tramway takes over 200,000 visitors each year up to this nature reserve to relish the stunning vistas. Perhaps you’d like to catch the cable car to reach the summit? Visit the town’s Great Orme Mines, the world’s largest prehistoric copper mine, and one of the most astounding archaeological discoveries of recent times. Alternatively, discover how life was for civilians during World War II at the Home Front Experience, browse exhibits revealing
Llandudno’s history at the local museum or view contemporary art at Mostyn Gallery. Maybe you’d like to stroll around Happy Valley Botanical Gardens where points of interest include a druid stone circle, a bust of Queen Victoria and a camera obscura which dates back to 1860. If you’d rather just relax, unwind on the sand dunes at West Shore Beach.

Anglesey & Beaumaris
We cross the Menai Bridge to Anglesey, an island with an unspoilt coastline, picture postcard towns and unusual ‘moonscape’ backdrops that are home to an amazing number of plants and wildlife. Here we pause at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – a village with the longest place name in Europe. Don’t miss the chance to snap a photo of the oversized railway signpost that displays the village name! We also call at the Woollen Mill here before moving on to the captivating seaside town of Beaumaris with its delightful mix of medieval, Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian architecture. Perhaps visit the imposing castle, built in the thirteenth century and now a World Heritage site. Treat yourself to a scenic boat trip, taking in the abundance of wildlife and the Menai bridges. Or visit the fascinating seventeenth century courthouse museum that gives an insight into the life of a prisoner in bygone days.
Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog Mountain Spirit Steam Train Trip
We head to pretty Porthmadog to board our steam train for a scenic trip to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The Mountain Spirit is hauled by locomotives designed over 150 years ago to pull large trains up steep gradients and around the sharp bends of the Ffestiniog line. Enjoy the nostalgia of a steam train trip while feasting your eyes on stunning scenery as your carriage winds its way across the estuary, along the Cob embankment before climbing up the valley passing meadows and villages then into ancient woodland, as it clings to the valley side. Each part of the route has a story to tell, and your journey will be enhanced by a map and guide. After our train journey we enjoy some free time in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
