Isle Of Skye
5 Day Coach Holiday
The mystical Isle of Skye lies off the West Coast of mainland Scotland and is the best known of the Inner Hebrides as well as being renowned for its natural beauty, history and wildlife. Our base for this island adventure is picturesque Broadford, the second largest settlement on the island and the first place visitors come across after crossing the Skye Bridge. It is dominated by the spectacular Red Cuillins mountain and the village is home to an old pier as well as quirky art and craft shops. We enjoy a guided tour of Dunvegan Castle, visit Portree, explore the Trotternish Peninsula and sail over to Mallaig
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Guided Tour of Dunvegan Castle & Portree
A guided tour takes us to Dunvegan Castle which stands on a rock in an idyllic loch side setting and houses fine paintings and clan treasures. We proceed to the island capital of Portree for some free time to explore. The main town on the Isle of Skye, it is built around a natural harbour that is used by fishing boats and pleasure craft.
Armadale to Mallaig Cruise
We head to the hamlet of Armadale on the Sleat Peninsula at the south end of the island. Here we set sail on a sightseeing cruise across the Sound of Sleat to Mallaig on the Scottish mainland, watching out for sea wildlife. Once ashore, perhaps stretch your legs on the Mallaig Circuit walk, taking in views over the harbour and across Loch Nevis to Knoydart.
We head to the northernmost peninsula on Skye, passing iconic sites such as the Storr and the Quirang and enjoying seascapes in all directions. We take in the ruined fortress at Duntulm, the port of Uig and Flora McDonald’s grave. We also visit the Museum of Island Life where we learn how crofters scratched a living from the land
