Isle Of Man
5 days
5 Day Coach Holiday
The extraordinary Isle of Man nestles in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. It is the only entire nation in the world recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere and an island with an ancient and compelling 10,000 years of history. Visitors can journey through a landscape rich in ancient monuments, medieval castles, vintage railways, rugged coastline, miles of beaches, areas of natural beauty and sleepy villages where time has stood still. It has many captivating points of interest as well as fun things for visitors to do. The capital, Douglas, boasts an enviable position on a horseshoe bay and has a long esplanade where you can enjoy a horse-drawn tram ride. Don’t miss the town’s elaborate Gaiety Theatre, the jewel in the Manx heritage crown, and the Great Union Camera Obscura, a quirky, Victorian curiosity that has entertained visitors for decades. Uncover ten centuries of history along with the island’s Celtic and Viking heritage at the Manx Museum. We include an exciting trip on the Snaefell Mountain Railway to the summit of the island’s only mountain followed by a visit to Laxey, home of the famous working waterwheel. We also visit Cregneash, a living museum portraying life as a crofter, then enjoy time in idyllic Port Erin.

Your Excursions
Snaefell Mountain Railway & LaxeyWe begin our day with a thrilling ride on the Snaefell Mountain Railway for a trip to the summit of the island’s only mountain, standing at 2,036 feet above sea level. This unique Victorian project has been in operation since the late nineteenth century and is the UK’s only electric mountain railway. At the top, you can enjoy spectacular views taking in Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales and of course the lovely Isle of Man. We continue to Laxey, where you might like to view the Great Laxey Wheel. Named the Lady Isabella, it is the largest working waterwheel in the world, and a popular tourist attraction for over a century.
Cregneash Folk Museum & Port Erin
Relive bygone days at the chocolate-box village of Cregneash, the final stronghold where the Manx language was spoken and where life in a nineteenth century crofting settlement unfolds. Step inside the cottages to experience the lives of the crofters through craft demonstrations. Afterwards, we head to the idyllic coastal village of Port Erin with its sandy beach, lighthouse and seafront cafes.
