Nestling in the picturesque Wye Valley, this Grade I listed mansion oozes history and is said to be where King Charles I once stayed in 1645. More than a century later its gracious gardens played host to cabinet meetings held by William Pitt the Elder and is where Queen Victoria’s daughter, Princess Beatrice planted a tree. Within its walls you’ll find a grand staircase and the panelled, draped, ornate staterooms that are now restaurants. Enjoy the parkland with its topiary, plants and fishing lake or try archery, shooting, putting, curling, croquet or snooker.

Your Excursions

Ledbury & Westons Cider Visitor Centre tour & tasting
We journey to the pretty as a picture market town of Ledbury where you’ll find an abundance of timber-framed dwellings – particularly in muchphotographed Church Lane. We then head to award-winningWestons Cider Visitor Centre where we enjoy a truly unique “back-stage pass” to the traditions of cider making, followed by some tasting.

Monmouth & Brecon Beacons National Park
Our first treat is a visit to the handsome settlement of Monmouth, perched at the confluence of three rivers and featuring Tudor architecture and old coaching inns. From here, it’s onwards into the breathtaking Brecon Beacons with its exhilarating landscape of mountains, lakes, waterfalls, villages, castles and caves.

A half day visit to Hereford, an attractive town with riverbank walks and grand architecture including the splendid cathedral where you’ll find the Mappa Mundi – a famous medieval map of the world.
