We discover more of Yorkshire with our fabulous excursions, firstly to RHS Garden Harlow Carr, where you’ll find specially designed allotments that reflect the Yorkshire landscape. We call at Skipton, a market town towered over by a mighty castle, and known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’. From here we visit the village of Bolton Abbey, picturesquely set on the banks of the River Wharfe. Of course, no visit to Yorkshire would be complete without a day in the magical city of York.

A morning visit to the RHS Garden Harlow Carr where you can explore the themed gardens such as Streamside with its lush plants, the Sub-Tropicana Garden with its vibrantly colourful tropical flowers, and the enticing blend of ornamental and edible plants in the Kitchen Garden. There are also delightful trails alongside woodland and wildflower meadows. Afternoon free in Harrogate.
York
Roam the labyrinth of alleyways, walk the City Walls, take a boat trip on the River Ouse, visit the National Railway Museum, explore the imposing castle or step back in time at the JORVIK Viking Centre. Don’t miss the Gothic minster - a masterpiece of sculptured stone, bell towers and stained glass windows, standing at the heart of this storybook city.
Skipton & Bolton Abbey
The key attraction in Skipton is its 900-year-old fortress, one of the best preserved medieval castles in England and where you can explore the historic rooms and battlements. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal flows through Skipton and has towpaths that are perfect for a leisurely stroll or wander the cobbled side streets in the tiny town centre that remain in their Middle Ages layout. From here, we continue to Bolton Abbey, set in acres of countryside with walking trails, an aqueduct, priory ruins, and a selection of tea rooms.
