Pretty Fishguard has an enviable location overlooking the Fishguard Bay and the gateway to the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Divided into an upper and lower town it still has a thriving centre and bustling port. Our base is the Fishguard Bay Hotel with breathtaking views over Fishguard Bay and approximately a mile from the centre of the town. We visit Pembroke Coast National Park, taking in St David’s a city with roots as far back as the fourth century and home to the splendid cathedral and ancient Pembroke where you may like to visit the castle ruins or sip a cuppa in one of the traditional tearooms. On another day we visit pretty Tenby, a medieval settlement enclosed by ancient walls, a fifteenth century church and a fascinating Tudor Merchant’s House. After time to explore, we pop in the town of Laugharne. Our final outings are to the village of Cenarth famous for its series of small waterfalls and pools before moving on to Cardigan, the gateway to the Teifi Valley and the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire Coastal Paths. The ancient town sits on the estuary of the River Teifi at the base of Cardigan Bay.
