This magical holiday presents a tantalising trio of German markets bringing to life the spirit of Christmas. Cologne’s glorious cathedral makes a majestic backdrop for the city’s Christmas market where you’ll find wooden pavilions, sparkling lights, puppet theatres and a festive ambience along with the largest Christmas tree on the Rhineland. Dusseldorf’s themed market set around an ice skating rink transforms the city into a winter’s tale with festively adorned huts and giant chestnut trees radiating with colourful fairy lights. Oberhausen is located on the banks of the River Emscher and its old town market square is enhanced by a forest of twinkling trimmed trees creating a romantic atmosphere and a storybook setting for Christmas shopping.
