Itinerary

Overview

Take in the handsome towns and cities that grace the banks of the Rhine whilst staying at the traditional family run Hotel gorresin the picturesque village of Wachtberg. Treats include two-thousand-year-old Koblenz, home to the breathtaking Ehrenbreistein Prussian Fortress, the medieval tourist town of Boppard and the splendid city of Konigswinter. Our journeys are bookended with stops in Beethoven’s Bonn and the cathedral city of Cologne.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One. We journey to Hull for our overnight ferry to the continent enjoying dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.

Day Two. We head to Bonnfor some free time. This fine city is the birthplace of Beethoven and home to the composer’s house. We continue to the Hotel Gorres and check in for our three night stay.

Day Three. Look forward to a scenic drive to Koblenz. Perhaps hop aboard the modern cable car that whisks you up to the amazing Prussian fortress or relax at German Corner – a square at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle overlooked by a statue of Kaiser Wilhelm. Later we continue to Boppard, known as the ‘Pearl of the Rhine’ and bustling with medieval charm.

Day Four. Today we visit the delightful resort of Konigswinterwhere you might like to take a ride on the Drachenfels cog railwayup to the magnificent multi-turreted Drachenburg Castle. We also make a short stop in remeganmade famous by the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge towards the end of World War II.

Day Five. After breakfast we travel to Cologne– don’t miss the UNESCO cathedral which houses the Shrine of the Three Kings. From here, it’s onwards to our ferry back to Hull with dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.

Day Six. We make our way home.

Overnight Ferry to the Continent

Your holiday moves up a gear when you board your P&O ferry at Hull for your sailing to the continent. drop your overnight bag in your cabin then explore the ship or unwind with an aperitif in one of the bars.

On Board Dining

All GLENTON continental holidays include dinner and breakfast onboard. Head to ‘The Kitchen’ buffet restaurant where your waiter will show you to your table and take your order if you wish to purchase any drinks. Then you’re free to help yourself from the wide selection of tasty dishes from around the world. At breakfast, choose from continental or a fully cooked menu. Alternatively if you fancy treating yourself, why not upgrade to The Brasserie Restaurant and enjoy fine dining with full waiter service?

Entertainment

Make your way to the Show Lounge and enjoy live bands throughout the evening – there’s even a dance floor if you fancy a wee boogie! Or slow the pace down at the Piano Bar where you can sip a cocktail as you listen to mellow music. Perhaps you’d like to catch a blockbuster movie at the  cinema or try your luck at the casino.

Cabins

Your GLENTON continental holiday includes an air conditioned inside en suite cabin with bunk beds. However, you can upgrade to a cabin with level beds and/or sea view for a small supplement. Please ask your holiday advisor when booking.
