Enjoy a taste of traditional Ireland on this holiday, based in the riverside town of Ballinasloe in County Galway. Our itinerary includes a visit to Athlone, an ancient town with a dramatic backstory. Afterwards, you’ll be transported back through the centuries at historic Kilbeggan Distillery. We enjoy a day in the harbour city of Galway, and visit the heritage town of Birr where we include entrance to fairytale Birr Castle Gardens, one of Ireland’s top attractions.

Athlone & Kilbeggan Distillery Experience
Enjoy free time in Athlone, a riverside town where Vikings plundered and almost every building has a story to tell. Afterwards, it’s onwards to the Kilbeggan Distillery Experience. Here you will be guided through an impressive history from 1757 to the present day and learn about the distillation process. You’ll also receive your own wee dram glass for tasting whiskeys from the range in the cooperage.
Galway
A free day in Galway where you’ll find a bustling waterfront, Lynch’s Castle, eighteenth century Eyre Square and a Latin Quarter with twisting lanes and quirky cafes. The city’s impressive cathedral is set on Nuns’ Island, accessed by a bridge and featuring rose windows and Christian art.
Birr Castle Gardens & Birr
We visit Birr where we include entrance to the castle gardens. The grounds of this storybook fortress are a tranquil oasis with a fairytale moat, rare plants and waterfalls alongside a myriad of trails. Afterwards, explore beautiful Birr with its ensemble of Georgian architecture.
