Folkestone is a port town in southeast England and is so close to France that on a clear night you can see the lights of its Gallic neighbours from its seafront. It features a bustling harbour and a charming Creative Quarter in its Old Town. There are south facing beaches including a sandy one next to the harbour featuring a statue of a mermaid. Enjoy a coastal walk along the clifftop promenade called ‘The Leas’ where you’ll find pretty gardens. Folkestone is also home to the enormous White Horse figure, a millennium celebration landmark
carved into Cheriton Hill, overlooking the Eurotunnel terminal.

Ostend
We board our ferry and sail to Calais then journey to Ostend. This enchanting resort has a wide sandy beach, fishing harbour and Fort Napoleon – a fortification built in 1811. (Passport and COVID-19 vaccination status letter required)
Hastings & Rye
Hastings has a well preserved Old Town with narrow streets, half-timbered dwellings and a keep and bailey castle where you can learn how the 1066 battle unfolded. With its beautifully preserved dwellings from the Middle Ages, Tudor and Georgian times, Rye is like a town, beautifully suspended in time
