5 Day Select Holiday

The Lake District is a tourist magnet in northwest England, famous for glassy waters, verdant forests, sky-scraping mountains and picture postcard market towns with traditional inns and local art. It is England’s largest national park, a World Heritage Site and an area of outstanding beauty, as well as being home to Scafell Pike, the country’s tallest peak, and Wastwater, its deepest lake. The region has long been associated with writers like Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth and, in the words of the great poet, really is where you can wander lonely as a cloud. We explore Keswick, home to Grade II listed Moot Hall, and visit Bowness-on-Windermere for a cruise on the sparkling lake. We also embark on the Mountain Goat Experience – a spectacular trip taking us off the beaten track and concluding with a ride through beautiful countryside aboard the nineteenth century Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, then a visit to the tranquil and idyllic Muncaster Castle Gardens.

Your Excursions

Keswick
Nestling on the shores of Derwentwater, the heart of bustling Keswick is its quaint Market Square and 19th century Moot Hall. Perhaps visit the museums or local art and craft galleries or stroll to the lakeshore to take in the waterfront views.

Bowness-on-Windermere Cruise
We head to Bowness-on-Windermere to board our boat for a scenic sail on its glassy lake. Afterwards, free time to explore this sprawling town with its distinctive Victorian influence and fifteenth century St Martin’s Church.

Mountain Goat Experience
We venture off the beaten track by minibus for a special excursion into the Western Lakes, taking us over the Wrynose and Hardknott Passes to Upper Eskdale, Scafell and Scafell Pike. We pause to admire the outstanding views at Wastwater, enjoy a ride on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway and visit glorious Muncaster Castle Gardens.
