Your Excursions

Rye & Hastings
Rye is an enchanting little village, set on a hillside, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. It is like a town suspended in time with picturesque ancient streets and meandering cobbled lanes. Perhaps visit the thirteenth century castle known as Ypres Tower where you’ll find a medieval garden and museum. Or head to the National Trust’s Lamb House, the onetime home of author Henry James. Don’t miss Mermaid Street with its oddly named homes. Later we call at Hastings, home to a well preserved Old Town. Its keep and bailey castle takes you back to the 1066 battle.
Brighton
Brighton is a cosmopolitan coastal city with a shingle beach flanked by Regency townhouses while the pretty marina features luxury yachts and a stylish shopping boulevard. Don’t miss the legendary pier– a lovely place to sip a cuppa while taking in views of the English Channel. The resort’s landmark Royal Pavilion - the lavish seaside palace of George IV - houses fine furniture and works of art.
Worthing & the South Downs National Park
Worthing has five miles of palm tree lined promenade and an award-winning beach. Perhaps view the fascinating exhibits at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery or make your way to Brooklands Park and relax by the boating lake. From here, we move on to the South Downs National Park to feast our eyes on its chalk grasslands, hidden villages and historic estates (not included on leisurely pace holiday dates).
